Trauma Informed Wellbeing Coaching

Coaching is a facilitated holistic exploration where we explore your hopes and dreams, as well as resistance and struggles, in order to find steps to move forward.

We will work with 8 areas of wellbeing which all need to be addressed in order to create a balanced and healthy life. We will unlock your unique gifts and resources, formulate personalised strategies, and offer tools and resources, so that you can start to live to your full potential and create the life which is right for you.

Why choose trauma informed?

Many people have experienced difficulties in life which have not been fully processed. These experiences can become trapped in the body, dysregulating the bodies natural rhythms and processes, and can eventually cause illness and difficulties in life. By choosing a trauma informed practitioner we can identify trauma and help you find resolutions so it frees you to live fully.

ME, CFS and Fibromyalgia Support

Fatigue conditions are debilitating, painful, frustrating, demoralising, and create untold havoc and suffering, especially in a world that doesn’t understand them.

I can help you understand why you feel like you do, give you a roadmap to wellbeing and make a personalised strategic plan for how to move forward.

I draw on my training as well as my personal lived experience of having severe CFS and having reclaimed my health. I will provide a safe, understanding, non judgemental space where we can move at a pace possible for you. Sessions are individually tailored, and absolutely as slow or short as needed. We will explore the changes that may need to be made so that you can start to move toward health once more.

Wellbeing Workshops and Storytelling

If you are looking for bespoke workshops which will educate, enrich, entertain and engage look no further. Topics include general wellbeing, burnout prevention, CFS awareness, food and nature connection. I am happy to create new sessions for exciting projects also.

Storytelling can be a powerful medium as stories connect us with nature and our own humanity in a way that is deeper than our conscious selves. Storytelling sessions can be stand-alone or part of a wider workshop experience.

About me

PHOTO-2025-12-24-20-48-35.jpg

I have always had an interest in health and holistic healing which led me to working as a vet for 7 years with both farm and companion animals. I developed a mild chronic fatigue syndrome during my first semester at university which went undiagnosed for 15 years despite many doctor visits. Gradually my health worsened and my CFS became severe, forcing me to stop work and become mostly bed bound for 2-3 years. This is when I discovered recovery programs, first with the Optimum Health Clinic and later with the Chrysalis Effect.

My subsequent journey back to full health and a full life has been both miraculous and hard work and is still a work in progress. By understanding the mechanics of fatigue disorders I have been able to work with my body using daily techniques to steadily reverse the process. Alongside physical techniques and nutrition, it has been a deep journey of honestly evaluating the things that were not working for me in life and making changes where needed, alongside exploring the role of my emotions and thoughts in shaping my reality.

5 years on since starting my recovery journey I feel like I am living life once again. I still have us and downs in life, but I have a life full of joy, inspiration, and love, going to gigs, performing poetry and storytelling, spending time with friends, taking long nature walks and volunteering at my local community supported farm. I have completed my coaching training, am transitioning back to work, and even have a romantic and loving relationship. Most of all I now have a more healthy relationship with myself. I no longer take health for granted and I purposefully live life in accordance with my authentic values, beliefs and needs.

I am now a Trauma Informed Wellbeing Coach, with distinction, trained by The Chrysalis Effect, and accredited with the ILM. I have also completed practitioner training, also with distinction, with the Chrysalis Effect to deliver ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia support, accredited by the FHT.

I believe we each have a core, innately full of joy, peace, vitality and unique gifts, offering us a life of limitless potential. By navigating our blocks and resistance we can move from struggles, frustrations, feeling stuck and undervalued, to a place of shining bright with our full potential, excited to see what each day brings. I know this because I have been supported through this transformation and I continue on this journey of exploration and growth. This drives my passion to help others find their route to their own health and happiness, and especially to support people through fatigue disorders because I know, first hand, the tremendous suffering caused by the current culture of misunderstanding and often poor support.

With my medical background and my lifelong interest in holistic therapies I am skilled in really getting to the root of a person's challenges and finding the right solutions that fit each individual in order to unlock their potential.

Testimonials

What Clients Say

Jodi Fitzwater: "Thank you so much! I have absolutely loved having you as my coach and I feel that anyone who is a client with you will benefit from your services. I love how you hold space, how comfortable I felt, but also how great you are at picking out the things that I may not have been aware of. I feel like I was really able to become aware of certain things that I didn’t even realise were subconsciously running the show and had been for a really long time. I am really grateful for all the support. I have enjoyed the laughs too, and can tell how down to earth you are yourself. You will help many on your journey for sure'"

Laura Dias Hill: "Working with Mer has been nothing short of life changing. She has given me the tools to be able to organise my full schedule, allow myself room to breathe/ grow and feel like I am a whole person. Her natural way of running a session put me at ease, knowing I was in good hands with her from the start. She is knowledgeable, talented and really listens, giving thoughtful and useful feedback that does not feel like criticism. I had so many lightbulb moments from our sessions, which removed several blocks that I had put in place myself. If you have the slightest inkling of wanting support and coaching, Mer is definitely the one for you. Thank you so much Mer, I will always be grateful for our time together."

Inspirational Quotes

"You do not have worth because you have beauty, have achieved much, or because you have purpose. You have beauty, purpose and achievement because you know your innate worth."

Concepts from Life shocks, Sophie Sabbage.

"Disease may be thought of as the healthy response of an organism striving to maintain physical, psychologic, and spiritual equilibrium. Disease is not necessarily to be avoided, blocked or suppressed. Rather it should be understood as a process of transformation. The process should therefore be facilitated because it is an integral part of the dynamic equilibrium that we ordinarily think of as health. In many cases, perhaps all, people get ill because there is something going 'wrong' in their lives. This could occur as a whole range of ways- relationships, environment, food or job, etc. Our view, however, is that disease is a meaningful state that can inform health workers how to help patients heal themselves. In this way, instead of being meaningless, people's problems become diseases of meaning, enabling people to see that things are not necessarily 'going wrong' but are, in fact, helping them become stronger, to live more fully and with more understanding.”
